Taiwan Mycomp Company (TMC), one of the leaders in the designing and manufacturing of board-level embedded products, agrees to accept investment of shares from Kontron Embedded Computers AG, a leading international supplier of embedded and miniaturized computers.
According to Mr. M. C. Liu, Chairman of TMC, Kontron has agreed to make an investment of approximately 51% of TMC shares by Spring of 2001. "Kontron is a world leader in providing system level solutions to the embedded market. TMC, with its expertise in manufacturing and logistics, will greatly enhance Kontron's business in the areas of cost-effective manufacturing as well as aiding them to make entries into relatively untapped Far East markets such as China".
Kontron, after the investment of TMC shares by Spring of 2001 and will remain as a shareholder only. "We want to assure to all of our customers and/or OEMs that this does not affect TMC's product lines and services, as TMC's key role to Kontron will be manufacturing and logistics services", added Liu.
TMC, established in 1983 and based in Taipei, Taiwan, is one of the leaders in the designing and manufacturing of SBCs (Single Board Computers) and passive backplanes for the embedded markets. An Executive Member of PICMG, its goal is to provide state-of-the-art and cost-effective board-level solutions to the fast growing embedded markets such as CTI, medical industries, instrumentation and automation. TMC, in 1999, achieved annual sales revenue of $65 Million and employed over 170 people.
